Amanda asked:

I'm about to tear the hair out of my skull! I'm trying to make stems by using bias binding for a needle turn appliqu? project and it's not going well. I followed the pattern instructions to a T but the binding won't fold in on both sides, see photo. Just one, or on both sporadically. The pattern says to spray starch the entire strip, press the tip to make it dry and insert it into the bias maker. Pin it, then iron along as you pull out the strip of the binding maker to make the binding. I've tried that, I've tried starching the whole thing, not starching, I've tried slightly wider and thinner strips. All of them are cut on a 45 degree angle or a cotton fabric. I know I can just embroider or use some other technique for the stems but I really love the look in the magazine. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I've used bias binding before without issue but they've been much bigger (1" or bigger). I would post a pic of the description but it's probably copyrighted... The bias maker I'm using is Prym 6 mm. The pattern designer recommends Clover, will that work better?
