New Mum and Baby Backpack Buggy Bag | Sewing Pattern
Challenging |
Quick Links: What you'll need Project steps
Learn to sew Debbie Shore's gorgeous backpack pattern that will carry all baby's essentials.
This bag is perfect for carrying baby’s necessities while keeping your hands free, but it’s also a useful backpack with lots of pockets to keep you organized. In other words, you’ll find it handy whether you have a baby or not!
The bag shown is made from two of my Robins on Bobbins panels with a little left over. Each of these panels has four co-ordinating fabric designs, which I used for the bag outer, flap, lining and side pockets. You’ll also need some mesh for the inside pockets. Quilting cotton, denim or canvas would work equally well for the bag, and if choosing alternative fabrics, you could use the same fabric for the side pockets and the flap, for example, or choose just one fabric for all the outer pieces and another one for the inner ones. The choice is yours.
Apart from the front and back of the bag, each pattern piece is either square or rectangular, so you may prefer to refer to and use the measurements described in the smaller, overall diagrams on the downloadable template sheet, instead of printing out all the pattern pieces.
Finished size: The finished bag is around 18in (45.75cm) wide, 11½in (29cm) high plus the flap and 5in (13cm) deep.
Note: Use a ½in (1.25cm) seam allowance throughout unless otherwise stated.
