About the bear
Happy Birthday Half Yard! To celebrate the club's birthday, it was only right to bring back this adorable and easy-to-make felt friend! This cute bear is so simple to make and can easily be sewn by hand. Why not gift your bear to a friend?
Finished size: 9 x 9in (22.75 x 22.75cm)
Note: Use a ¼in (5mm) seam allowance throughout. This has been included in the pattern sheet.
Safety Disclaimer
I’ve used florist wire to suspend the bunting he holds; however, if you’re making Birthday Bear for a small child, you could sew a little heart to one of his paws instead to make it a bit safer.

You will need:
Equipment
- Sewing machine (optional)
- Blusher
- Erasable marker pen
- Strong wet fabric glue
- Hand needle, for embroidering features
- Repositionable spray fabric adhesive (optional)
Materials
- 24 x 12in (61 x 30.5cm) of felt for the body: I have used a wool/viscose blend as it is softer than synthetic
- 6in (15.25cm) square of felt in a paler colour, for the face and paws
- Scraps of different coloured felt, for the bunting and hat
- Embroidery floss (thread) in rust, black and gold, for the bear’s features and hat tassel
- 12in (30.5in) length of florist wire
- Approx. 3.5oz (100g) of polyester fiberfill (toy filler), for stuffing the bear
