Bargello Block of the Month #12 | Quilt Sew-Along (2020)
Moderate |
Quick Links: What you'll need Project steps
Debbie Shore's final quilt block of the year features a bargello patchwork technique.
What is a Bargello quilt? The Bargello patchwork quilt technique involves piecing fabric strips in a graduated colour pattern, creating a wave-like design that flows with movement. This technique is inspired by the traditional Florentine needlepoint embroidery style, also called Bargello, known for its zigzag patterns. It consists of cutting fabric into long strips, sewing them together with varying widths and colour sequences to achieve the distinctive flowing design. It is easier to do than you may think! Repeat the block three or four times to create a stunning table runner, or make up a set of matching pillows. I think after your first project you’ll be hooked!
Block size: 10in (25.5cm) square finished; 10½in (26.75cm) unfinished.
Note: Use a ¼in (5mm) seam allowance throughout, unless otherwise stated.
