English Paper Piecing Flower Block of the Month #5 Quilt (2020)
Moderate |
Quick Links: What you'll need Project steps
Hand sew a flower using hexagon, diamond and triangle shapes, using English paper piecing.
What is English Paper Piecing? English paper piecing (EPP) is a popular quilting technique that involves hand-sewing fabric pieces onto paper templates. Ideal for beginners and advanced quilters alike, EPP allows for the creation of stunning geometric patterns, such as hexagons, diamonds, and flowers, without the need for a sewing machine. The process involves securing fabric around paper shapes, stitching the shapes together, and then removing the paper to reveal crisp, clean edges. I've used this technique to create this month's block - English Paper Pieced Flower. I like to use a glue pen to temporarily hold the papers inside my fabric shapes; however, you could use the traditional tacking / basting method if you prefer.
Block Size: 10in (25.5cm) square finished, 10½in (26.5cm) unfinished
