Flowers in My Bird Garden Block of the Month #8 Quilt (2020)
Easy |
Quick Links: What you'll need Project steps
Debbie Shore's centrepiece to this year's patchwork quilt is a stunning bird table and flowers block.
This year’s quilt centerpiece features a stunning bird table and flowers, perfect for adding charm to any quilt design. You have two options for adding the appliqué – by hand or machine, making this month’s block accessible to quilters of all preferences. Whether you enjoy the relaxing pace of hand stitching or prefer the efficiency of machine sewing with a zigzag stitch, both methods are easy to follow.
For the full list of the fabrics you need, see my Introduction to the 2020 Block of the Month.
Important note: Below are instructions for both machine (steps 1–3) and hand (steps 4–9) appliqué versions of this block. The templates, which are the same for both, are symmetrical, apart from the bird. For machine appliqué, flip the template when reproducing on webbing if you want the bird facing the same way as the design. You’ll need to add a small seam allowance to the hand appliquéd version (details below), and make sure you use a matching thread.
