Square Within A Square Block of the Month #11 Quilt (2021)
Easy |
Quick Links: What you'll need Project steps
It's time to sew the next edge motif in Debbie Shore's Seminole patchwork quilt-along.
As the name suggests, the next block design running along the edge of the quilt is a square motif that gives the impression of multiple squares within it. It's a simple design that even quilting beginners can follow.
I have used 19¾ x 21½in (50 x 55cm) fat quarters to cut my strips; if your fabric is wider, then please cut your fabric to these measurements first.
Unfinished block size: 6½in (16.5cm) square.

You will need:
Equipment
- Sewing machine
- Rotary cutter and cutting mat
- Quilting ruler with 45-degree angle
Materials
Fabrics (see my Introduction to the 2021 Block of the Month). From these, you will need to cut:
- One 15/8in (4.25cm) strip in FAB4
- One 15/8in (4.25cm) strip in FAB9
- One 2¾in (7cm) strip in BL
Important note: This makes up one-and-a-half blocks; repeat to make four blocks in total.
