Joy Block of the Month #1 (2 of 2) | Christmas Quilt (2022)
Very easy |
Quick Links: What you'll need Project steps
You can learn how to applique with Debbie Shore's festive Block of the Month project!
There are two quilt blocks to make this January, and JOY is the second part of this month's Christmas project. The word 'JOY' is made with machine appliqué, and is designed to be easy for complete quilting beginners.
Machine appliqué is a sewing technique where fabric shapes are attached to a background fabric using a sewing machine. The edges of the fabric shapes are typically stitched down with a decorative or straight stitch, creating a secure attachment. This method is faster and more efficient than hand appliqué, making it a popular choice for quilting and other fabric projects. Machine appliqué allows for precise stitching and offers a variety of stitch options, such as zigzag or satin stitch, to create different textures and finishes on the fabric pieces.
Unfinished trimmed block size: 6½in (16.5cm) wide by 12½in (31.75cm) deep.
