Seminole Waves Block of the Month #4 | Quilt Sew-Along (2024)
Easy |
Quick Links: What you'll need Project steps
Make a Seminole patchwork quilt block in part four of Debbie Shore's nautical sew-along.
Sweeping across the bottom of the quilt, this quilt block balances the Nautical Blocks at the top of the quilt and evokes the rhythm of ocean waves. The technique of Seminole patchwork is used in this row to create the feeling of waves rolling across the lower edge of the quilt. This satisfying technique takes its name from the Seminole tribe of Native Americans who developed it, and it involves sewing fabrics into strip sets, cutting them apart and then sewing the pieces back together to create geometric patterns. Some of you may remember a similar technique from a previous BOTM (please refer to this if you are stuck) and it’s a lot easier than you would think, so let’s have a go.
Unfinished block size: 36½ x 5in (92.75 x 12.75cm)
