Doll House

This cute doll’s house is perfect for both play and storage, encouraging hours of imaginative storytelling and adventures!

Decorate it as you like: add flowers and a washing line to the outside and pictures to the inside – this little house is a blank canvas for you to personalize as you wish. I’ve used free-motion machine stitching to attach the appliqué shapes but a standard straight or blanket stitch on your machine would also work or, of course, you could hand-sew the pieces in place.

I like to drizzle a little wet glue along the stitches that hold the front hinged panels together to stop them from coming undone and to make the seams stronger. Although the back of the house can be glued, it’s important to hand sew the front so that the joins aren’t rigid.

Card is used to give structure to the house. Avoid corrugated cardboard as it may bend. If you can’t find card thick enough, you may be able to glue a few pieces of cardstock together until you have the right thickness. The card needs to be thick enough to stand up alone: two thickness of a cereal box would work well. Each piece can be cut from A4 card (210 x 297mmm/8.27 x 11.7in).

Note: Use a ¼in (5mm) seam allowance and read through all the instructions before you begin, to make sure you know how the house pieces fit together.

Finished size: 12 x 8½ x 12in (30 x 21.5 x30cm)

Edited (17/3/2022): Unfortunately, the interfacing amount for this project was not correct on its release date. We are very sorry about this. Please know it has since been corrected, and the pattern template available for downloading is the amended version.
