Halloween Pumpkin Kids Treat Bag | Applique Sewing Pattern

Designed with trick or treaters in mind, download Debbie Shore's Halloween quilted bag.

With its spooky seasonal characters and a jazzy border of prairie points, this easy quilted bag is perfect for kids or for anyone wanting to join in the festivities this October. The appliqué makes a fun bag for a child but can also be used for pillow covers, quilt blocks or place mats. If you’d prefer the bag without the appliqué, there’s an example at the end of the project of how this will look.

I’ve used free-motion embroidery to attach my Halloween appliqué shapes, but if you prefer, you could use a straight stitch on your machine, as shown in the video, or hand sew them in place.

Prairie points add an extra dimension to your sewing projects and can be used to decorate quilts, cushion covers and table runners. They are traditionally made by folding individual squares of fabric, but you’ll find an easy way to create them within this simple tutorial.

Note: Use a ¼in (5mm) seam allowance.

Finished size: 11 x 8 x 3½in (28 x 20 x 9cm)
