Japanese Reversible Patchwork Block | Carolyn Forster
Easy |
Quick Links: What you'll need Project steps
Here's where you can find the free downloadable templates for Carolyn Forster's Japanese Reversible Patchwork pattern, as featured in the Half Yard™ magazine!
Make these hexagon-shaped quilt blocks and piece them together to create a visually-stunning and reversible quilt for the home!
Carolyn says...
“The technique of finishing off the raw edge of a quilted patchwork piece is not new – many old quilts have the backing turned over to the front in order to finish off the quilt. What is different about this Japanese method is that the patches have their edges finished before they are sewn into a quilt. Plus, the patches were developed to include circles and other shapes so as to create new and interesting designs.
Traditionally, this Japanese patchwork was stitched by hand utilizing fine hand quilting, but this can be adapted to use big stitch quilting and also some machine work. Popular shapes include circles wrapped around squares, diamonds and triangles, hexagons wrapped around hexagons in two ways, and circles or squares wrapped around squares.”
The templates are free to download, just hit the “Template” button above.
