Quick Make: Christmas Cutlery Holder

Follow this easy, sew-along video tutorial by Debbie Shore and make a Christmas cutlery holder for your dining table!

About the project

This DIY fabric cutlery wrap/holder is easy to sew and adapt or personalize! Make as many as you want to create a full dining set, and feel free to use up Christmas fabric from your stash. You could add bows, buttons or ric-rac for some embellishment, or perhaps some hand embroidery, fussy cutting or appliqué?

I've included the measurements of my cut fabric below, but you can adapt the pattern to the length of your cutlery (see video).

Note: use a ¼in (5mm) seam allowance throughout, unless otherwise stated in the video.

What skill level is this sewing pattern?

This is a beginner-friendly “quick make,” and shouldn't take you more than 20 minutes to stitch!

What do I make next?

There are now plenty of “quick makes” to choose from. Why not make the Father Christmas Baubles, String Christmas Tree Decorations, or the Fabric Baubles? These all make excellent gifts too (and can be made at the last minute)!

You will need:

Equipment

• Scissors
• Cutting mat
• Sewing machine
• Knitting needle or chopstick for turning out corners
• Needle for hand sewing
• Basting spray (optional)
• Clips (optional)

Materials

• One top and backing fabric, each measuring 5 x 11in (12.75 x 30cm)
• A second piece of your top fabric, measuring 5 x 8in (12.75 x 20cm)
• A second piece of your backing fabric measuring 6 x 9in (15.25 x 22.8cm)
• One piece of fusible fleece, measuring 10 x 11in (25.5cm x 30cm)
• Thread
• Ric rac (optional)
• Bows (optional)
