Quilting and Sashing Tutorial: Quilt Sew-Along (2019)
Easy |
Quick Links: What you'll need Project steps
Learn the echo quilting technique and how to add sashing with Debbie Shore's step-by-step guide.
If you've been following Debbie's quilt sew-along, you should now have three completed blocks! To make it easier to piece the quilt together later, you can quilt and join these three made-up blocks now to make a row, so all you have to do is sew the rows of blocks together at the very end. (If you prefer, you can wait until all twelve blocks are completed before joining them).
Debbie says: "I’ve chosen the echo quilting technique to join the blocks, as I thought it would be the easiest method for a beginner. However, feel free to use another technique – this is your quilt! I’m using a contrast printed fabric for my backing; white on white would work equally well."
Use a ¼in (5mm) seam allowance throughout, unless otherwise stated.
Edited 30/03/2020: Since the original post date, the measurements for the backing and wadding in the cutting instructions have been amended. If you have printed off the instructions prior to this date, please kindly check your version against the instructions on this page before cutting anything out.
