Custom-Fit Fleece Slippers | Easy Beginner Sewing Pattern

Debbie Shore's quick-to-make slippers are so simple, and so much fun to sew, that you’ll want to make more than one pair!

These cosy slippers are made from fleece, which is a forgiving and comfortable fabric to wear. I’ve used non-slip/non-skid fabric for the soles of the slippers, but this is optional: if you’re walking on carpets there’s little chance of slipping. If you do want to use non-slip fabric, look for the type sold specially for making slippers, sometimes sold as grippy dot or Jiffy Grip fabric. Make sure your fleece is knitted so that it stretches.

I’ll give fabric requirements for the largest size, so note that you will have a little left over if making the smaller sizes.

Note: Use a ¼in (5mm) seam allowance unless otherwise stated.

Fitting: To be sure of your correct size, place your foot over the sole pattern. The pattern should be about 1in (2.5cm) larger than your foot all around.

Cut the cuff band:

The direction of stretch in the fabric should be parallel to the long edges.

  • Extra small: two pieces each 10½ x 2in (26.75 x 5cm)
