Stretch Knit Pencil Skirt | Easy Dressmaking Pattern
Easy |
Quick Links: What you'll need Project steps
Create a comfortable stretch knit skirt with this easy beginner dressmaking pattern by Debbie Shore.
Stretch fabric is the ideal choice for beginner dressmakers or more experienced sewists looking for a quick and easy make. This beginner skirt requires no fastenings or darts, and since stretch knit fabrics typically don’t fray, there's no need to finish the seams with an overlocker, making it a low-maintenance option.
Create a custom skirt in any size and length you desire – Debbie Shore will walk you through the entire process! The amount of fabric needed will vary based on the size you're making. For reference, Debbie's skirt is a UK 12 (US 10 / EU 40) and she has used a 25in (63.5cm) length of 60in (152.5cm) wide stretch jersey.
Additionally, you'll need 2in (5cm) wide elastic, long enough for your waist, and a ballpoint/stretch sewing machine needle for the best results.
