Buttons and buttonholes 101
Your fastenings are a really important final touch!
Your fastenings are a really important final touch, so take your time and you'll love the result!
Buttonholes can be a little daunting to a new sewer, so always have a practice first on the same weight of fabric as your project. This will also help you with marking your fabric, as you'll be able to gauge the size of the hole correctly, and where to position it on your garment.
When your buttonholes are complete, use a small pair of scissors or a quick-unpick to make the hole, being careful not to cut through the end stitches ('bar tacks').
