French knots

A French knot is a useful little stitch when creating flowers or tiny eyes on toys.

To make your French knots, you will need your chosen embroidery thread/floss and an embroidery (or crewel) needle. I've used three strands of thread/floss for my knots below. Using more strands creates chunkier knots; using fewer strands makes your knots smaller. Here's a couple of ways to create them.
