Hong Kong Seams
Add a pop of colour and a professional finish to your seams using this tried-and-true technique. These are bias-bound and easier to complete than you think.
Hong Kong seams are bias-bound, giving a tailored look to raw edges on unlined garments. They are quite time-consuming but worth the trouble, since they prevent fraying and can add an unexpected pop of colour! These seams look particularly stylish when incorporated into a repurposed denim jacket, shorts or jeans. It's cost effective to make your own bias binding, and often enough you can use fabrics from your stash.
There are two ways you can complete this finish: with double or single fold bias binding. Follow the steps below to learn the two different methods.
