How to Sew a Twin-Needle Hem

Twin needle sewing is perfect for stretch fabrics – here are my hints for sewing a twin-needle hem. This kind of hemming can also be used decoratively too.

Twin needle sewing is perfect for stretch fabrics; the needle creates two rows of stitches on the top, whilst the bobbin thread zig-zags between the two rows and enables the stitch to stretch.

The needles have one shank, so fit into the needle holder on your sewing machine in the same way as a single needle, thread in the usual way with two threads, then take one thread through each needle. You won’t be able to use your needle threader if you have one on your machine!
