I want to make a dress but am struggling to find patterns that go in larger sizes. I am looking for something in a 30-32. Is it possible to buy a pattern for example that goes up to a size 24 and resize it. I am reasonably new to dressmaking and not sure how difficult this would be if it is possible to do.

Looking at trying to make my own swimwear! I've never done it before, so I'm going to try deconstructing my favourite (but worn out) tankini and making a few toiles out of old T-shirts. Any tips, lessons learnt, or pearls of wisdom from anyone?

Not something I've tried to be honest but Tilly and the Buttons have just launched a costume pattern if that helps, they usually have videos..

Hello everyone. I'm a fairly new member and watch Debbie on YouTube as I don't FaceBook. I can see you all writing messages live, but can't work out how to do it myself. When I click on the box, it comes up with a message telling me to make a channel - seems to be targeting an 'owner'. I don't use social media much - please can anyone advise how I can join in. Thanks

Hi ,I'm using a heavy weight outer fabric for a tote bag. I dont think it needs interfacing. I am going to use a cotton lining ( hopefully okay) so do you think it wise to interface the cotton lining? Thank you.
Debbie replied: 12 Aug 22 at 07:46
Hold thet wo fabric together and see how firm they are. if you're happy with the weight don't interface, if you'd like them a bit firmer then interface the outer fabric, that's the fabric that gives the bag structure, it may not have much effect if used on the lining...

What's the biggest mistake you've done when sewing? I'm unpicking all my progress today so could really use some stories to make me feel better....

I am making another weekender duffel bag and would like to use the faux leather for the strap. Do you think it's suitable? I plan to seam RST and then insert a a stiff polypropylene webbing as I pull it the strap through? Your honest advice is welcomed
Sherry replied: 7 Aug 22 at 17:21
I have used faux leather for bag straps in the past and they work fine just on their own, I don't think you'd need to put the webbing in them too, that may make them too stiff and harder to sew through. Why not try a little sample of each to see what they'll be like. Hope this helps.

Hello Everyone! I am not just new to this group but also being a sewing machine owner. At the grand age of 50+ I have decided to take up a hobby I have not really visited since my school days. I have made a few easy projects cushions etc and feeling quietly confident I haven't forgotten a little more than the basics. So my question is I am attending a wedding reception in a few weeks and would love to make a gift, so does anyone have some ideas of what I could make? Many thanks x
