Debbie Shore's quilt block this month is a classic patchwork star design.
This month's quilt block is named Key Lime Pie. It features three triangle units, which are made with the Split Quarter Square Triangle technique – you may remember this from our very first Block of the Month Quilt back in 2019!
Split quarter square triangles are a natural next step once you've mastered half square triangles. The split quarter square unit is made up of two halves: one half is plain fabric and the other half is a combination of two fabrics.
These triangle units are then stitched between Four Patch units (a quilting method that we used for Block 2 of this year’s sew-along quilt, Five Patch Chain).
Untrimmed block size: 12½in (31.75cm) square

You will need:
Equipment
- Sewing machine
- Rotary cutter
- Quilting ruler
- Quilting mat
- Scissors
Materials
Fabrics (see my Introduction to the 2023 Block of the Month). From these, you will need to cut:
- Eight 2½in (6.5cm) squares in FAB2
- Eight 2½in (6.5cm) squares in FAB7
- One 5¼in (13.5cm) square in FAB7 – sub-cut across both diagonals to make four small triangle pieces
- Two 47/8in (12.5cm) squares in FAB6 – sub-cut along one diagonal of each to make four large triangle pieces
- One 5¼in (13.5cm) square in WW – sub-cut across both diagonals to make four triangle pieces
- One 4½in (11.5cm) square in WW
