Little Donkey Soft Toy | Sewing Pattern

Download and sew my fun plushie donkey toy. This beginner-friendly project is soft and cuddly, and he’s sure to become a firm family favourite!

About the project

I’ve used teddy fleece for the body of my donkey and polar fleece for the contrast pieces, but if you already have some fleece leftover from other projects, you could use that. Fleece is a forgiving fabric with a little stretch, that doesn’t fray so it’s easy to work with, and it’s so cuddly that it’s perfect for kids’ toys. Make your donkey in any colour you like – I’m looking forward to seeing your makes and hearing what you’ve named yours!

Sew along with me!

Take advantage of the video that accompanies this project to see how I made the donkey. My videos always contain extra tips and shortcuts and will help you through any of the trickier sections. You can also sew along with me as if you are in a class, pausing the video as needed while you sew that stage of the project before continuing with the video.

By the end of this project, you’ll have:

  1. Made a cute plushie donkey.
  2. Gained confidence sewing with fleece fabric.
  3. Had the opportunity to use up some fabric from your fabric stash.

Finished size: 16in (40.5cm) high

Note: use a ¼in (5mm) seam allowance
