Part of Debbie Shore's rag doll series, it's time to make a Christmas party outfit for your Maddie toy.
Every girl – and girl doll – needs a party frock, and Maddie is no exception. Made in festive fabric, this dress is perfect for Christmas, but if you use the same pattern to make more dresses in other fabrics as well, she’ll have something to wear for any smart occasion! You can also change the look of the dress by adding lace or trims to the hem, sleeves and/or neck edge.

Note: Use a ¼in (5mm) seam allowance throughout unless otherwise stated.

You will need:
Equipment
- Sewing machine
- Fabric shears
- Safety pin or bodkin
- Optional: overlocker/serger
Materials
- 44 x 20in (112 x 51cm) of fabric for the dress, or 44 x 18in (112 x 46cm) if your fabric is plain or has a non-directional print – 44in (112cm) was the maximum width of my fabric’s bolt, but if your fabric is wider you could use this extra amount to make Maddie’s dress skirt even fuller!
- 44 x 6in (112 x 15cm) of contrasting fabric, for the belt
- 14in (36cm) length of ¼in (5mm) wide elastic
- 8in (20cm) zip
