Dress up Debbie Shore's Maddie rag doll toy in a witch outfit for Halloween.
Maddie is all dressed up and ready for a Halloween party! Maddie’s put on a beautiful dress with a faux waistcoat bodice that is laced up the front. I’ve chosen purple and lilac for her costume, but you could use any colour you like.
The netting on Maddie’s dress is optional. As it is added to the dress as a separate skirt, it can be repurposed as a ballet or fairy outfit too! I’ve also used some spare netting and felt to make Maddie some matching shoes.
If you don’t have poppers for the dress closure, you can easily use a narrow strip of hook-and-loop fastening instead.
Note: Use ¼in (5mm) seam allowances throughout.

You will need:
Equipment
- Sewing machine
- Fabric shears
- Fabric glue
- Hot-glue gun: you could use wet glue, but it will take a long time to dry
Materials
- 38 x 20in (96.5 x 51cm) of fabric for the main parts of the dress: mine is lilac
- 31 x 8in (79 x 20cm) of fabric for the bodice back and side front (faux waistcoat): mine is purple
- 78 x 11in (198 x 28cm) of netting: mine is lilac
- 17 x 17in (43 x 43cm) of felt for the hat: mine is lilac
- 14in (35.5in) of ¼in (5mm) wide elastic
- Three poppers
- 30in (76cm) of 1/8in (2mm) wide ribbon
- Child’s headband
- Handful of toy filler
