Mini Cuddly Rabbit | Toy Week pattern by Kaz Marr

It’s sew-easy to make a mini Twitch the Rabbit! All you have to do is print the templates at half scale. Make this “Toy Week” variation by Kaz Marr for Christmas.

All of you loved making cuddly rabbits in Spring this year, but bunnies don’t just have to be for Easter! Why not spoil a loved one with a mini Twitch for Christmas? This adorable baby version has been lovingly stitched by member Kaz Marr.

Note: Instead of felt eyes, Kaz also used safety eyes too.

Difficulty level

This project has been ranked as easy. If you’re a beginner, this is an ideal gift to make for Christmas. Why not switch out the main body fabric to a fur fabric, or how about a patterned fabric that is personalized to the recipient’s interests?

By the end of this project, you’ll have:

  1. Made a cute plushie rabbit.
  2. Developed your toymaking skills.
  3. Practised reducing pattern pieces to create new sizes.

Note: the instructions below are from the Cuddly Easter Rabbit project.

Reducing the templates

Select the “print” button on your device. Then, go to printer settings, find “scale” and customize it to 50%. Then you can hit “print.”

You will need:

Equipment

  • Sewing machine with a standard needle – or use a jersey needle if that works better with your fabric
  • Dressmaking shears
  • Quick unpick
  • Pins
  • Fabric glue: I used Gutermann HT2
  • Optional: fabric clips – especially useful if your fleece is quite thick

Materials

To make a large Twitch the Rabbit:

  • 40 x 19in (101.5 x 48.25cm) of fleece fabric – mine is pink
  • 15 x 10in (38 x 25.5cm) of cotton fabric for the heart and inner ears – I chose a floral design
  • 8 x 6in (20.5 x 15.25cm) of Decovil Light interfacing if you’d like the ears to stand up
  • 2 x 2in (5 x 5cm) of black felt for the eyes
  • 2 x 2in (5 x 5cm) of dark pink felt for the heart-shaped nose
  • Dark pink, white and black embroidery threads for the nose, eyes and mouth
  • Toy filler

To make the mini variation:

  • Print the pattern at half scale
