Quick Links: What you'll need Project steps
In our video tutorial, Debbie Shore shows you how to make a custom-size dust cover for your machine.
Here's how to make a dust cover for your sewing machine and get the perfect fit! You could also use this sewing pattern to make a food processor or toaster cover! If you’re a beginner, try to use a fabric with a non-directional print: as the cover wraps over the machine, it will be upside down on one side – If you decide to use a fabric that has a directional pattern cut in half, turn it 180 degrees then sew back together, so the two halves are mirrored.
Note: Use a ¼in (5mm) seam allowance throughout unless otherwise stated. The measurements for your materials will vary, depending on the size of your sewing machine. In the steps below, I have provided instructions on how to measure up your machine; use this to help you work out the necessary fabric amount for your own cover. My machine measures 16 x 8 x 12in (40.75 x 20.5 x 30.5cm) at its widest points, and the fabric listed below is enough to cover this size model.
