Witch Gnome Sewing Pattern | Toy Week

Kicking off Toy Week with a cute Witch Gnome to sew! She's called Eek and loves Halloween!

About Eek!

Eek is a clumsy witch, and her spells never seem to work! So, she spends her days painting her nails and training her pet spiders. Eek is this month's secondary project, and she's flown in early as a special treat (rather than a trick). She brings a spooky start to the Half Yard™ Sewing Club's “Toy Week.”

This project was originally published in my book Sew Gnomes (2023).

Making the Witch Gnome

This is a beginner-friendly project that is perfect for Halloween! You could add some weighted pellets to Eek and use her as a doorstop, or she can be used as a cuddly companion (since she's a friendly witch, after all). Follow the step-by-step instructions below and download the templates to make your gnome – feel free to pick coloured fabrics of your choice too.

By the end of this project, you’ll have:

  1. Made a cute Witch Gnome toy to gift or use during Halloween.
  2. Gained confidence sewing with felt.
  3. Practised some hand sewing.

Want to make more?

If you enjoy making this cute character, you’ll find a growing number of cuddly friends on the Half Yard™ site that you could make too. There’s Baa-bra the Sheep, Cookie the Polar Bear, the Cuddly Easter Rabbit Toy, Daphne the Toy Dragon, Pip the Rabbit and more. You might also like Maddie the Rag Doll, who has a number of outfits you can make too, and even her own teddy, and then there’s her brother Robyn, as well.
