Can someone advise me about poplin weight in comparison to 100% cotton. Planning to make another bag and wonder if poplin might be better with the canvas which I love.
Debbie replied: 7 Jun 21 at 06:17
Poplin is 100% cotton, it has a finmer thread and closer weave than quilting cotton so has a lighter feel, fine to use with canvas but you may need to interface it.

Hi I have to cover a block of cushion foam with some of Debbies lovely fabric for our motorhome and wonder what you think is the best way to do this. Do I cut two pieces for the top and bottom and then narrow strips for the sides, one with a zip in? Your help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi everyone! How many balls of wool should I use for Maddie's hair? Or the rough length? I've got 1 ball of the marino wool but it's tiny! (Tilda Doll Hair Yarn 12.5g )
Debbie replied: 7 Jun 21 at 06:19
Twisting yarn is a great idea! The Tilda yarn is just meant for Tilda dolls who have very small heads...

I?m in the middle of the Weekend bag May 2019. I?ve been watching the video and now it?s disappeared. I thought I?d copied the QR! Code. But it?s disappeared too. I?m a visual learner and although I have the notes I would much preferred to see the project demonstrated. Is there anyway I can get the video back? Thanks. Marillyn

Hi everyone I?m thinking of doing the block of the month 2021 I know I?m a bit late starting but that?s fine, I haven?t made a quilt before but this one looks pretty simple. Do you think I will be ok? what wadding are people using for it? And I?m a bit late to buy Debbie?s bundle of fabric for it, so where can I get the fabric?
Megan replied: 3 Jun 21 at 08:02

Hi I wonder if anyone can tell me what machine needle to use with Ripstop polyester I am using it for a lining in cosmetic bags as it is waterproof.
Debbie replied: 2 Jun 21 at 13:47
Just use a universal needle, nothing special needed!

I am trying to make the bag that was on sewing along on Saturday if you are using a patterned lining when you have put the zip in which way has the lining fabric got to face.? I?m new to sewing and the club I would be grateful if anyone could help.
Shirley replied: 31 May 21 at 15:07
Hi Berni. So your main fabric will face right side up, your zip will face down so that the top of that is level with raw edges of your main fabric, your lining will go right side down ( right sides facing your main fabric) raw edges & sides lined up. Just to check before you sew pin in place when you turn your bag as if you have finished open the zip you should see your patterned lining and the wrong side of that is together with wrong side of outer fabric. Hope this makes sense and not confused you any more. Happy sewing.
