Can anyone tell me if there was an HYSC live yesterday (30/11) at 4pm? I missed it and cannot find the recording? Thank you
Laura replied: 1 Dec 24 at 11:19
The recording has to be loaded on to the site by the Admin Team so it will be on the Blog in the next couple of days.

Hi, I can’t open the live streams when I click on it. I missed today’s so wanted to catch up. Any ideas why this is please?
barb replied: 1 Dec 24 at 05:56
Yesterday’s hasn’t been loaded yet. Probably will be there in the next few days. Previous live streams should work through. ie this one https://halfyardsewingclub.com/blog/bonus-live-stream-november-2024-christmas-stocking

Where on site for live events?
Sherry replied: 30 Nov 24 at 14:38
It will appear on the home page of this website. There is usually a countdown on the home page but there doesn't appear to be one for today's live at 4pm (UK time). Just go there for 4pm and it should appear - that's what I'll be doing anyway :) For previous live streams, go to the BLOG section of this website, scroll down a little and click on the LIVE STREAMS button.

Where can I find the fabric and cutting requirements for today's live stream please?
Laura replied: 30 Nov 24 at 12:30
It is the adaptation of the Halloween Bag with a zip added. The project is here https://www.halfyardsewingclub.com/projects/halloween-bag and if you scroll down to the bottom of the project instructions you will see the cosmetic bag with zip and prairie points that Debbie is making on the sew along today at 4pm.

Where can I get the jersey fabric to make Edwin the sitting Elf please?
Laura replied: 30 Nov 24 at 09:58
For his face you need a viscose jersey https://www.debbieshoresewing.com/shop/fabric/jersey/plain-jersey/viscose-jersey-beige/ but this is out of stock at present. I don’t think you need very much for his face so you may have a flesh coloured t shirt or other garment that you could use. For the striped jersey Debbie has a couple of options on her website https://www.debbieshoresewing.com/shop/fabric/jersey/printed-jersey/metallic-stripey-cotton-jersey-pink/ https://www.debbieshoresewing.com/shop/fabric/jersey/printed-jersey/metallic-stripey-cotton-jersey/ Again somebody suggested that you could use a jersey t shirt of your own or perhaps from a charity shop if you find one.

Hello Could you give me any advice on how to stop my material slipping when seeing my bag pieces together, thank you Margaret
Mel replied: 29 Nov 24 at 08:08
A walking foot can help too but definitely clips or pins if fabric allows

Debbie, have you made a simple bowl cosy.Irun a centre for the elderly and we are learning to sew,i thought a bowl cosy would be a easy project for them to start with. You have a diamond cosy in the projects, but i think that would be to hard for them to start with. Diane .
Laura replied: 27 Nov 24 at 09:56
I think Debbie was asked about a bowl cosy on the last live but she said she hadn’t made one. I have checked her You Tube Videos and this is the closest I can see on there https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XH3AwyUOEu4 so this might help.

Another question regarding the tote with cork. Would the fusible craft fleece be too stiff ? Would the 630 be best?
Laura replied: 27 Nov 24 at 10:00
I think the fusible craft fleece would be fine for a tote with cork. H 630 is quite light and soft so wouldn’t use that for larger bags but more for smaller projects like pouches and cosmetic bags etc.

I have some cork I want to use for the bottom third of a tote bag. I’ve tried looking for a tutorial which I’m sure Debbie has done but can’t see one. Can anyone help please?
Laura replied: 25 Nov 24 at 21:23
This video might help you in the first instance https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=63ajStvaUGg Once you know the technique you can add cork to the base of any bag where Debbie demonstrates adding a coordinating base to the bag. Debbie has also got a download for a cork based bag on her website if you were thinking of that one.
