Ho Ho Ho It's Santa Block of the Month #10 Quilt (2022)

Debbie Shore's quilt block features everyone’s favourite Christmas gift giver, Santa Claus!

Santa and his sleigh of presents is made with raw edge machine appliqué – just like the JOY block, the Gnome Alone block, and the YUM block.

What is raw edge machine applique? Raw edge machine appliqué is a quilting method where fabric shapes are attached to a background fabric with the edges left raw (unfinished and not folded), usually with the help of fusible interfacing to secure them in place. The shapes are then stitched down using a sewing machine, creating a visible, unhemmed edge on the appliqué piece. This technique is a fast and easy way to add designs to fabric and is often used in art quilting to achieve a more natural appearance.

Templates are provided for all the pieces below.

Unfinished trimmed block size: 18½in (47cm) wide by 12½in (31.75cm) deep
