Learn Flying Geese and Half Square Triangle techniques with our quilt block.
We’ve reached the last block in our Christmas-themed 2022 Block of the Month Quilt! Well done for getting this far! Our final festive quilt block for 2022 is inspired by the flame-red festive plant, poinsettia, and is made using a combination of the Flying Geese and Half Square Triangle patchwork techniques. You will have come across these before in quilt blocks you've made earlier this year, and in previous Block of the Month quilts.
The Flying Geese quilt block is a classic pattern in quilting that features a triangle shape with a "goose" flying in a "sky" made up of smaller triangles. The block gets its name because it resembles a formation of flying geese, where the triangle represents the "goose" and the smaller triangles around it represent the "sky" or background.
The next step will be to construct and finish your quilt. This will include assembling the blocks, making your quilt sandwich, quilting and binding your quilt.
Untrimmed block size: 12½in (31.75cm) square
