This pretty heart decoration is a great option for Valentine's Day, and can be scented with a favourite essential oil to create a beautiful aroma around the home. It’s embellished with simple ribbon-embroidered roses, with stitched leaves and petals. I’ve used ¼in (5mm) wide polyester ribbon for the flowers; with a little more ribbon, you could cover the whole heart in roses! I’ve sewn the rosebuds in place but if you prefer, use a little strong wet fabric glue instead. All of the embroidery is made with stranded embroidery thread/floss, using all six strands.
Finished size: 7½ x 8in (19 x 20cm)

You will need:
Equipment
- Erasable marking pen: I used a FriXion pen
- Heart template
- Fabric and embroidery scissors
- Large-eyed needle
- Optional: Wet fabric glue
Materials
- Two 9in (23cm) squares of felt; natural felt is easier to sew through
- 30in (75cm) deep pink ribbon, ¼in (5mm) wide
- 40in (100cm) bright pink ribbon, ¼in (5mm) wide
- 40in (100cm) pale pink ribbon, ¼in (5mm) wide
- Dark pink, pale pink, bright green, dark green and white stranded embroidery thread/floss
- Matching sewing thread, for the ribbon roses
- Toy filler
- Essential oil in fragrance of your choice
- 9in (23cm) ribbon, ½in (1.2cm) wide, to hang; I used a small-checked grey-and-white gingham ribbon to match the felt
