Jewellery Storage Pouch | Foundation Paper Piecing Tutorial
Moderate |
Quick Links: What you'll need Project steps
Debbie Shore's elegant FPP case is perfect for storing your jewellery.
Debbie Shore's jewellery pouch sewing pattern is a great option if you travel regularly and need a safe space to store away your gems. If you decide to leave off the ribbon loops and ring tube, it would also make an excellent cosmetic pouch, or a portable notions case.
The flap is made with a simple foundation paper piecing technique; copy paper is fine to use. Use a small stitch of about 1.8 – 2 when stitching the paper; this perforates the paper, making it easy to tear away later. There will be some scraps left over from foundation paper piecing, but don’t throw these away! Why not use them for crumb quilting?
Crumb quilting is a patchwork technique that uses small fabric scraps, or "crumbs," to create unique and colourful quilt blocks. Instead of discarding tiny fabric leftovers, quilters sew them together randomly, building up larger pieces that can be incorporated into quilts, table runners, or other projects.
I’ve used quilting cotton for my case. It’s padded with fusible fleece to provide protection for the jewellery inside, but batting/wadding would work just as well.
Finished size: 10 x 18in (25.5 x 45.5cm) open; 10 x 6 x 1in (25.5 x 15 x 2.5cm) closed
Note: Use a ¼in (5mm) seam allowance.
