Stitch a cute, charming Gingham Book Cover with a Pocket in one-sitting! The fabric cover has a retro feel, and it will protect your book when you're on-the-go.
Keep your notebook or book cozy with this adorable gingham book cover! It has a handy pocket too so that you can store away pens, bookmarks, book tabs or other useful bits and pieces! Gingham has such a classic feel, making this a cute and trendy fashion accessory. Of course, you may use fabric from your stash or a patterned fabric of your choosing.
It's ideal if you're gifting someone a book, diary, journal or notebook. I've made this for an A5-sized book but of course you can scale this to fit any size book you like. This could be used as a school accessory for those needing to protect books or library loans too!
As ever, this quick make sewing project is short and sweet to stitch – make it over an afternoon! There are no patterns or instructions to download, just sew along with the video.

You will need:

- Sewing machine
- Iron and ironing pad
- Optional: fabric glue
Materials
- A5 notebook (or book of your desired size)
- Two 8½ x 10½in (21.6 x 26.7cm) outer fabric pieces
- Two 8½ x 7½in (21.6 x 19cm) pocket fabric pieces
- Two 8½ x 10½in (21.6 x 26.7cm) lining fabric pieces
- Two 8½ x 10½in (21.6 x 26.7cm) fusible fleece pieces
- Nine inches of 1in (2.5cm) wide binding
- Five inches of ¼in (5mm) wide elastic
- One large button
