Thanks to members who replied to my one step buttonhole foot. My machine did indeed come with one but my search is specifically the one that Debbie used where she put the button at the top end of the foot and it calculated the length of the hole needed. There seem to be a few on the Internet but nothing like I saw.
Laura replied: 7 Feb 23 at 11:22
As per Debbie?s response below I have assumed that your machine has a one step buttonhole function ..I hope that this the case !

Whoops, cutting out PJ, I didn't turn the pattern pieces over to get the reverse shape. Wasted alot of fabric! Just a little heads up ????
Blodwen replied: 5 Feb 23 at 17:43
Next time If you fold right sides together, making it two pieces and cut one piece out at a time you wouldn?t have that problem. Remember to cut arms and legs twice.

Hi, can somebody explain how to do a stem stitch, a small French knot and a satin stitch please as the only hand stitches I?m familiar with are the basic running/back stitch and slip stitch. pretty much a novice when it comes to hand sewing I?m afraid. Many thanks. Ali xx

Thank you Joan, Barb and Megan. Really helpful and much appreciated. I look forward to learning some those stitches and then I am going to get stuck in to making up Maddie?s face. Happy sewing. ????xxx

I have a Singer Talent machine and would like to buy a one step buttonhole foot. This is the one where you can put the button onto it and it works out how large your buttonhole needs to be. There seem to be quite a few but would anyone recommend one please?
Debbie replied: 6 Feb 23 at 17:12
I'm not familiar with that machine but make sure it has a one step buttonhole stitch before you buy the foot...

Has anyone made a pillowcase I'm looking to make a couple in plain fabric and embroider them with my new machine.
Alice replied: 12 Feb 23 at 11:32
Are you machine embroidering? I did loads of embroidered pillowcases recently for xmas, and let me give you a tip: it's far easier to leave one side of the pillowcase open before you embroider, then sew it up at the end, rather than embroidering on a completed pillowcase. (I know pillowcases have one side open anyway; I mean, one extra side open that you'd normally sew up!)

I have a few garments that I want to up-cycle into something fun but I'm out of ideas (even though I have Refashion Restyle Restitch). There are one pair of thin black linen pants and one pair of stretch jeggings. They both have holes you know where but the rest is fine. I also have a top in a flowing purple viscose fabric that's not stretchy. I accidentally shrunk it in the washer so it's smaller than before ???? but otherwise intact. Any ideas on what I could make would be very much appreciated! It's not a lot of workable fabric but I should be able to do something fun, right?

Block of the month (February)...I am confused by the measurements as it is listed as eight 2 7/8" (or 7.25cm) for WW but then lists eight 2 7/8" as 7.5 cm for fab 1 then to add to my confusion it list one 3" as 7.5cm for fab 3! so for those who have made the block did you go with 2 7/8" for WW and Fab 1 and 3" for the fab 3? Thanks!
Mad dog lady replied: 5 Feb 23 at 14:01
Hi its 8x2/7/8 ww 8x2/7/8 fab 1 one x 3inch fab3 four 5/quarter x3 fab 5 if that helps

New member. I?d like to make a bag using the black suede on the website. Has anyone used it and any tips? Does it fray, have bulky seams and can I use fleece or interfacing with it? I want to make the bag in suede and a cotton fabric.
Karen replied: 3 Feb 23 at 22:44
Thankyou Laura. This is very helpful information. I?m now feeling more confident and I?ll definitely make the bag with suede fabric. Can?t wait to get started. Thankyou again .

Hi hope someone can help with this. My Singer machine is slipping stitches, I have tried all the usual things, cleaned it re threaded, changed the needle and it is still skipping, is there anyway else I can try. Thanks in advance.
Laura replied: 2 Feb 23 at 13:15
Does this happen on different types of fabrics ?it might be that the needle is not correct for thread or fabric type. It also may be the foot is not fitted correctly or not compatible with your machine. Is there any lint in your feeddogs as this can cause slipping as well. You have to be a detective to sew!! Hi all Is there a video on card holder
HYSC replied: 1 Feb 23 at 16:16
Hi - the card holder is a returning project as voted by the members - it was originally a secondary project, so there is no video I'm afraid.
