My quilt as you go block has come up at 12and a quarter square not 12 and a half what should I do for the rest of the blocks?
Laura replied: 28 Jan 23 at 18:16
Hi Daryl ?see my reply to Helen a little bit earlier. When you add your wadding and backing fabric and trim them to 12.5? you will be ok. I wouldn?t alter any of the later blocks as it will affect the patterns and size of your finished quilt.

Hi, complete beginner can you tell me how much fabric to buy in metres to make 1 maddie? Can you also tell me it ask you to use a 1/4 inch seam allowance, do you add this onto the pattern or is it included in the pattern? Thank you in advance Susan
Megan replied: 28 Jan 23 at 07:32
You need half a meter of fabric and the seam allowance is included in the pattern.

Hi I'm being a complete idiot but I want to make Maddie s caddy,I have the instructions...I have cut 39 x 12 for my top outer, but how do I know what size to cut the two top bits and do I round the corners myself ? Hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance Margaret
Laura replied: 27 Jan 23 at 21:32
The information on Debbie?s website says there are five downloads provided for Maddies caddy so hopefully you have found them all on your account.

Hi everyone, If you were struggling with the 2023 QAYG process Debbie has added a video to the instructions: https://www.halfyardsewingclub.com/projects/block-of-the-month-2023-quilt-as-you-go-qayg
MARILYN replied: 27 Jan 23 at 15:52
Just watched it ,so easy to do with video rather than reading the instructions was getting rather confused by them.

I am about to start sewing Debbie's batwing top download pattern but can't find what seam allowance to use. Can anyone help me with this please.
Laura replied: 27 Jan 23 at 11:40
Just looked on the instruction sheet and it says use a 1cm (0.4?) seam allowance under notes.

Hi everyone, does anyone know how to remove blue tailors chalk marks from cotton fabric? I used it to mark the straight lines for quilting the WW blocks of the QAYG but now cannot remove it - even rubbing hard with a nail brush!
Juliet replied: 27 Jan 23 at 19:14
Thanks again Laura for researching. No I hadn't done any ironing - thankfully. I did see a YouTube video suggesting a toothbrush and I have had better results with the toothbrush and bowl of hot water and detergent. Lots of brushing, hopefully it won't look too bad. Thinking of going over the lines again once it has all dried. Again, thanks for your response.

Have completed my block 1 & 13, but both are measuring 12.25 inches! I've read Debbie's instructions on what to do if the top comes out smaller, but don't quite understand. Does it mean you trim the square going off original wadding & backing that's attached or adding extra? If adding extra, how is that done? Sorry for sounding so clueless when it's probably extremely simple. ????
Daryl replied: 28 Jan 23 at 17:05
Thanks Laura I have the same problem but will make sure the other blocks come out better I think my quarter inch mark is perhaps too generous
