Laura replied: 29 Sep 22 at 10:54
Debbie does use a sew in firm fleece when making the overnight/duffel bag project on this site. You may find her video explaining this useful for your weekend bag project.

Hello you lovely lot. I have just put together (myself) my new Ikea desk where I plan to do all my sewing. I was just wondering how you all store your material. Obviously if it was on rolls I could have it all standing on a shelf, but as its all cuts, I'm not sure how to have it so I can see what I have, if that makes sence. How do you all have yours?

I fold mine on comic boards and put them on shelves so I can easily see what I have. X

Can I interface polar fleece?
Laura replied: 27 Sep 22 at 10:09
You can use a woven or non woven interface to stabilise knitted fabrics including fleece. I would use a G700 or H200 to achieve a slightly stabilised fabric to avoid stretching on bags and toys. Iron on from stabiliser side and I would suggest that you try this on some spare fleece first to check that it gives you the desired effect. Hope this helps.

Hi all. Can I ask.. what are the scissor type things that you use to stuff the stuffing deep in toys called? I know it?s a medical instrument and begins with a H.. but that?s it. Thank you xx

they are called homeostatic forceps You can actually get them from tool shops like screw fix or fishing tackle suppliers They are actually a good tool for using when doing very fiddly sewing too

Help (and possibly counselling) needed please. I am making my 9th Duffel/weekender bag [July 22] as a gift . I have made a stupid mistake and inserted the bag base feet to the base first. Attaching the base to the sides the last corner is a nightmare - I think the feet have used material. Is there any that I can insert a patch without unpicking the whole base? Brutal truth please?????????????

I'm practicing free motion quilting but I'm having issues with these thread blobs. It's the upper thread that gathers on the the back of the fabric whenever I start to stitch. How do I avoid this? I'm using batting or interfacing and have tried lowering the tension a little bit but it doesn't do anything.
Amanda replied: 28 Sep 22 at 16:05
Yes, this was really helpful! I finally managed to start my free motion quilting without thread blobs. Found a great video (not Debbie's but hers were useful too!) that helped a great deal. In case anyone has the same issues and sees this, I'll post it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej6Os1LCrN0 Thank you, Laura!

Laura you are very helpful with answering questions. I have another. When I make Olga the gnome do you make the body and then the dress goes over that or do you make the body then put the dress on? I was reading the instructions last night but wasn?t sure. Sally
Laura replied: 22 Sep 22 at 22:00
Hi?Olga?s body, arms and legs are all made in the same (gingham in the pack) material first and then you make the little gathered skirt in the same material and put that on separately when you have finished the body. No reason why the skirt couldn?t be different if you want to adapt the pattern but keeping it all the same makes it look like she has a little dress on (smiley face).

Hi, can anyone kindly suggest an easy to sew, water resistant lining( something suitable for a wash bag) Thank you.
Rubi replied: 25 Sep 22 at 10:05
You can purchase a product called Odif - OdiCoat which you paint onto any fabric that makes it waterproof and machine washable. I have not used it myself, but the reviews are very good.
