Hi All, has anyone made the multi use caddy and can advise what size of wheelchair it's designed for? Is the wheelchair meant to be slightly wider than the bag? Ours is a small wheelchair measuring 12" from the inside of the handles, 14" from the outside and since the bag is 14" wide I'm just wondering if anyone who's made one can advise if it does need to be slightly smaller as it looks smaller than the chair in the picture? Thank you :)
Debbie replied: 22 Apr 21 at 09:24
I'd make it 12" wide. so you'd need to adjust the width of the pattern pieces. If the bag is wider than the handles it won't sit very well, hope that helps!

I'm try to finish the caravan caddy from the HY Kids book. I'm struggling with point number 18. which is how to join the two pieces together and fitting the bias binding on. Has anyone managed this project, and if so could you give me some advice please? It's driving me nuts! Thanks!
Debbie replied: 23 Apr 21 at 10:20
How far did you get? The two side pieces are sewn right sides together across the straight side, then fold back wrong sides together. Then sew bias binding across this seam, bu8t at this point don't fold it over, just sew one side. Then take the base [spine[ pieces of fabric and fuse to a piece of foam so you have a foam covered strip. Place this in between the two bottom pieces, fold the bias bonding over the spine piece and sew. Does that help?

How do I attach a flap over fastener to a tote bag. Thanks
Debbie replied: 22 Apr 21 at 09:20
Couple of ways to do this depending on what you prefer, either fir the flap in between the outer and lining back pieces, or to the back of the bag before lining it, best to look for a tutorial or pattern so see which you prefer...

I've made one panel of this months project ( I'm new to sewing), and the window frames I've used the linen fabric from my pack. Purchased the pack from Debbie. My problem being the material seems to be fraying badly. Should I use cotton on the rest of house? Can I paint on Prymm Fray check? Should I not worry and just continue? Thanks in advance Karen
Anne replied: 17 Apr 21 at 13:04
Wow it?s coming along great. A bit of fraying is all part of the charm.

Hi, this is going to sound very 'picky', it's not meant to be.? I want to make Debbies?top so I bought half a yard of viscose thinking that's all I'd need, hence the title, but I need 1.3/4 yds of fabric.? Maybe I'm too trusting lol. Had anybody else been silly?like me?
Anne replied: 17 Apr 21 at 13:08
On the instructions it says 1.75 yards, not everything can be made with half a yard, unlike Debbie?s books of the same name. Hope this helps.

Does anyone have any handy hints or tips for sewing in bases or rooves please? It was going well until I had to attach the inner roof. If it wasn't wonky before it certainly is now!
Debbie replied: 14 Apr 21 at 10:07
Start sewing 1/4" from the corner edge of the fabric, so that the actual stitch line matches, not the raw edge... that may help!
