Hi on the calender on 1 bit it says the 8th July will be wrap skirt and on another bit it says shorts. I would love to make shorts and buy fabric but if it's the skirt I will hold off on buying fabric. Does anyone know?
Debbie replied: 6 Jul 25 at 07:58
Hi Lz, it's the skirt I'm afraid, I'm still working on adjusting the trouser pattern into shorts but It's not s simple as I thought! Hopefully the shorts will be ready for August.

Please forgive this very basic question but could you please clarify how I "join pattern here"with the marking of a line with an arrow each end. Do you match the arrow points with each page still showing arrows or do join on the arrowed line hiding one set of arrows? One way makes the pattern longer, one shorter. I do hope this makes sense. Thankyou for any kind help.

barb replied: 29 Jun 25 at 11:02
You can join from the home page only when its live. After they have finished they are loaded under blog but that takes s few days. You can see the past sessions there now. Saturdays should be added in the coming days.

I was watching the live and it stopped? The project wasn't finished? Any idea why?
DEE replied: 30 Jun 25 at 12:07
When will Saturday's live be available on the blog. It's not there yet ?

Vimeo is asking for me to sign up in order to watch the video, is this usual?
Laura replied: 28 Jun 25 at 17:59
You have to put your name in so that you can comment so that may be the reason 😊

I have cut out the pattern for the wide trousers, the back is much wider than the front Is this correct?
Jean replied: 3 Jul 25 at 13:55
Yes, Vivien, the back pieces of trousers are generally is wider than the front pieces. It's to give more room to sit down and also we are wider round the back than the front!!

Hi everyone! We hope you are all having a lovely week! We'd like to apologize, and note that we found an error in Block 11 for this year's BOTM quilt (2025). This is the block that will go live on November 1st and we're glad we've spotted this ahead of time. However, this does mean the cutting instructions related to this block in the intro were incorrect. This year's quilt introduction has now been updated, and we recommend downloading or printing the new instructions. We're so sorry for any inconvenience caused, and hopefully you have the time to cut the correctly sized fabric pieces before November. :) Very best wishes, team HYSC x
Andrea replied: 28 Jun 25 at 12:19
So the fabrics listed in the instructions arethey enough to make the quilt? (alteration)

Hello to everyone. Has anyone made the Small Square Bag, with a bamboo handle, from Debbie's other website? In the picture it is a gold coloured background fabric, with pink and green flowers on. Is there enough width at the sides to fit hardware on, as I would like to put a fabric handle, instead of the bamboo type. Thank you.

Anyone had a email saying payment due the end of June? I am a new member who has paid and subscribed for the 2 years...
HYSC replied: 23 Jun 25 at 08:44
Hi all, sorry for any confusion. If you can see you are on the 2 year membership in My Account then don't worry; this is the renewal reminder that we mentioned in the redemption email - "You may receive monthly emails from our payment portal counting down the balance on your account. You will not be charged while on a code membership. You can check the status of your membership in 'My Account'" You should just receive an invoice for £0 when it comes through.

Hi, which thread do you use when dressmaking ? Aurofil or gutterman? Thanks x
Debbie replied: 23 Jun 25 at 14:52
Personally I use Gutterman and a=save my Aurufil for quilting, but either will do the trick!

Hi. I'm new to dress making and found that now I've washed my material it is really hard to cut in a straight line. Any tips please
Laura replied: 24 Jun 25 at 08:17
You could give your fabric a spray of Best Press or spray starch when you iron after washing to give a bit more body to the fabric while you are cutting. Hope this helps 😊

I am making the wide leg trousers but the linen fabric I chose is see-through. I would like to line them but can't find any instructions on how to do this. Are there any tips on this site?
Laura replied: 24 Jun 25 at 08:39
I don’t think it covers lining of garments on this site ..I did copy this from the internet “ Cut out the lining pieces with the same seam allowances as for the fabric pieces. Transfer all markings from the pattern pieces to the lining. Pin the right side of the lining pieces to the wrong fabric side of the front trouser pieces and baste round all edges. Then treat these pieces as one layer of fabric.” Hopefully this may help. You can also buy pant slips on line (basically an underskirt/petticoat with legs 😊) so it may be worth considering purchasing that as a solution to wear with any wide legged trousers.
