I am doing this months botm and find the second gift with bow on is one inch shorter than the first block. I've followed the cutting sizes to the letter. Has anyone else found this. I've not done the third one but looking at the measurements I sure it will be the same as the first one which is 12.5 inches. Help
Alice replied: 13 Jun 22 at 12:33
Helen and Karen It was my mistake only cut top BG fabric to 2.5 instead of 3.5 unpicked it and cut a piece to the correct size. The whole block measures 12.5 x 18.5 which is the correct measurement. Thanks for your replies Alice

Hi Laura, for the dunkards path I used freezer paper to get a correct size. I also found pins and clips were better than glue

Can anyone please help me with my shirring project please? It worked when I did it in the 70s! I've followed Debbie's instructions, turned up tension and stitch length and even steamed, but its too loose. Where might I be going wrong? I've got a lovely Janome which does everything else so well.
Laura replied: 11 Jun 22 at 12:40
Has your shirring elastic lost its stretch....I initially tried to do the project with an old reel of shirring elastic that I has been in my sewing box for a long time and it seemed to have perished and lost its stretch so I bought a new reel and worked perfectly.

I printed out the pattern for the weekend bag & there is only two marks for the feet, I thought bags usually had four feet, can anyone help?
Debbie replied: 9 Jun 22 at 07:56
Join the two pattern pieces together then place the pattern on the fold of fabric, as you've only got half a pattern there are only two feet positions, flip the pattern over to makek the position on the second half of the fabric, hope that explains!

I wondered if Debbie could do a tutorial on shortening sleeves with a cuff. My blouse sleeves are always too long for me. Thanks.

Help needed please loose bobbin issue. I'm merrily sewing, I make pouches and sew the same items everyday no problems whatsoever, then suddenly my bobbin is pulling loose and you can now see bobbin thread on my top stitching. Anyone any idea what has happened. I've re threaded 100 times I've changed needle My tension top thread has been same for 2 years never touched bobbin tension Have top loading bobbin case Have removed case and cleaned everywhere. No teeny tiny threads caught in bobbin case I've checked and treble checked and now I want to ???? Can anyone advise please. How could bobbin tension suddenly changed from one item to another Thanks in advance

This happened to me recently. I turned my machine upside down and (carefully!) shook it. It dislodged a lovely big bit of fluffy lint which I hadn't seen as it was out of reach when I was doing what I had thought was a thorough cleaning. Not saying this will be the same for you, but worth a try!

Good morning can I ask a question about printing patterns. I am going to buy a new printer to print patterns can I ask is a normal inkjet printer suitable or is there a specific type of printer I should be buying?
Megan replied: 3 Jun 22 at 07:21
I use a hp printer. Following Alice's comment if your printer didn't have double sided printing what I do is take the paper out once it's printed one side and put it back into the paper tray and print on the other side again. When I print double sided on my laptop it always pops up for me to do that.
