I'd like to add a fabric loop inside the summer tote bag so I can clip my dog treat pouch onto it. Where (ie how far down?) and how should I position it in the lining?
Debbie replied: 1 May 22 at 15:46
I'd go about 2" from the top into the side seam of the lining...

For those who have made Debbie?s batwing top. The edges of my sleeves where the cuff would go don?t match. The back is bigger than the front. Have I cut it wrong? I followed all the cutting lines with my ruler & rotary cutter
Debbie replied: 1 May 22 at 15:47
You've cut it right, the difference between tha back and front help it to sit on the shoulders correctly...

Hello, I'm looking for a bit of advise please. I'm going to make a cross body bag with faux leather and rather than use webbing for the strap, I'd like to top stitch two lengths of faux leather together. Will the faux leather fray? Will it be too thick to make the way Debbie does by folding edges to the centre and top stitching? thank you. :)
Annie replied: 28 Apr 22 at 16:35
Thanks Adele, yes think I'll do that. The faux leather is from Debbieshoresewing.com and has a woven backing and I wonder if that might fray, but guess if I sew close to the edge it should be okay. Xx ????

Got some faux leather which has been tightly folded around a card and therefore very creased/marked along folds. What?s the best way to get rid of fold lines? I have unwrapped it and laid it flat but not made much difference. Can it be ironed on the back? Thanks
Debbie replied: 27 Apr 22 at 18:03
If it's one you bouoght from Debbie Shore Sewing it can be ironed and steamed from the back, if it's another brand I'd suggest testing a little first...

Hi all, I used the 505 temp adhesive spray to attach cotton fabric to wadding and I have been left with marks on fabric look like water marks, I thought when it dries it would go. Any ideas, did I do something wrong? Will it need to be washed to get rid of then? Thanks
Debbie replied: 27 Apr 22 at 18:04
Spray the wadding not the fabric, and spray from at least 8" away to avoid staining, although it should easily wash out...

Can I use a rotary cutter to cut out a paper pattern?
Alanna replied: 27 Apr 22 at 18:15
Thanks Debbie, I wanted to check as I know I shouldn?t use my fabric scissors & I wasn?t sure if it was the same for my rotary cutter

Hi, can anyone help please. I'm making up the Penguin Doorstop that I downloaded a while back. I printed the templates & cut the fabric, followed the method but when I've got to join the front & back panels, the front is .5" longer than the back almost. I've gone back to the paper & that's the same, as is a reprint. Also, from how it looks now, the head opening is much smaller than the body opening. Does anyone have any pointers to where I've gone wrong ? My guess is the printing but there's no check square on the pattern I've got to confirm that. I'm making it as a memory item so my fabric stock is limited so I've stopped making it until I can work this out. Any ideas welcome. Thanks very much, Helen.
Debbie replied: 28 Apr 22 at 08:44
Must be your printer, the patterns measure 7" long and the neck opening is 3" on the back pattern and 1.5" on the front, the head should measure 6.25" across the width, to be honest even without a scale square the pieces should have printed out proportionally... could you attach a photo of your print out please? And it may be an idea to make one from scrap before using your precious fabric, a pengiun tiole!
