Hi? I've just made the purse on P125 of the Half Yard Bags and Purses and find that the lining is much shorter than the outer.? I've checked that I cut the correct sizes and wondered if anyone else has come across this problem. Thanks Christine
Christine replied: 13 Feb 21 at 14:41
Please don't!!!! I've checked and made the purse again and it was my miscalculation. The second version is perfect!. Thanks for the response ... much appreciated.

So H640 or H630 would both be ok for satchels then?
Debbie replied: 10 Feb 21 at 18:01
H640 is slightly thicker than H640, I'd prefer H640 to give more structure to a satchel, hope that helps!

Is fusible adhesive sheet the same as fusible web used to fuse two pieces of fabric together.?
Debbie replied: 10 Feb 21 at 18:02
Thats the one! Such as Bondaweb, iron to the back of your fabric, cut out the shape, peel off the paper backing then re iron to your work. It's a permanent adhesion so little sewing is needed...

I have made this bag today and really enjoyed doing it. ?I just need to add the handles and finish it off tomorrow. ?It is said to be challenging but the most challenging part I found, besides my continuous zips, was the poorly written instructions. ?They were not at all clear and if I was not as confident a sewer as I am, then I would have given up. ?A video would be great for this bag as it is gorgeous once made and well worth the effort. ??Has anybody else found this or is it just me?
Jules replied: 6 Feb 21 at 13:47
Thank you. As I said it?s a gorgeous bag and I?m really pleased with how it turned out but I had to supplement the instructions with You Tube tutorials so I could understand them. Perhaps it?s just me and next time it will be easier.

Sewing a silicon label. What needle and do I need a special machine foot?
Debbie replied: 6 Feb 21 at 13:10
I'm not sure what a silicone label is, but I think you'll need a non-stick foot, and a universal needle I'd imagine would be fine... what are you making?

I am having issues doing a buttonhole - sometimes it comes out perfectly, other times the thread jams and I end up with a wholly mess-i just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. ?Don't know if anyone can help but I do hope so - thank you
Debbie replied: 6 Feb 21 at 13:11
Have you stabilised the fabric? Try putting it over tear-away stabiliser, that may help...

Debbie frequently squares off the corners? of her bags to make a side gusset and a flat base. Is there a magic formula to calculate what size square to cut out to give a required finished base and gusset size? Thank you? Jaquelyn?
Jacquelyn replied: 6 Feb 21 at 14:10
I can work out a formula from that. Thank you so much.

Hi everyone, I'm going to?be making the jacket when?the fabric I ordered for it arrives. My question is should, I wash the fabric before I make it? I've never made clothing before so I'm not sure if I should or not. Thanks, Beverley?
BW replied: 3 Feb 21 at 12:43
Hi Barb, I think the two fabrics are different, looks like I?m washing them, it?s better to be safe than sorry in this instance, thanks for the advice

Hi, a friend has asked me to make some cushions for her with a piped edging.? Having watched Debbie's how to do piping I'm ok with that but not sure if putting a zip in would look better than having a simple envelope back.? She has chosen?2 differing fabrics for the back and front so that the cushions can be reversed for differing looks.? Also, is putting a zip in at the edge of the piping difficult??? Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.? Thank you.? Anne
