There are a great many websites out there that have patterns on for free, both children and adult's. All you have to do is download them and print them out, then cut them out. Find some cheap fabric such as an old sheet or quilt cover, and have a practise. Don't worry about making mistakes, they are a portal for learning. It doesn't matter how long you have been sewing, we all make mistakes, I'm 60+ and I still do it. My favourite mistake at present is when I use my Janome machine, and forget to lower the presser foot. Then I sit here and wonder why it's not behaving properly and going all over the place. Always use decent thread, and word of warning some machines don't like some brands. A bit like children who don't all like the same food.

Anyone know where I can purchase wooden poles for the teepee featured in Debbie?s new book Sew Outdoor Living. ?My granddaughter spotted it and has put in her order :)?

I wonder if anybody could help.? I have only recently taken up sewing and am really keen to try quilting.? I have made little sample blocks to practice free motion quilting but my machine can't seem to cope with doing anything other than going straight up or straight down.? I have bought the correct free motion foot for my machine which works much better than a cheaper one I purchased to start with.? I think my problem is I cannot drop my feed dogs.? I do have a plastic plate to cover them but this shifts out of place and I have broken two needles so far because of this.? I have tried taping it down with masking tape but this just seems to restrict the movement of the fabric.? Any tips?? Really don't want to invest in a new machine as mine is great other than this.? Thanks in anticipation.

I look forward to that tutorial too Leah. I have the same problem.

Hi, I would be interested to know the information about the fabrics used in your makes, name of fabric or collection and who by, maybe you could say at the beginning of your videos, thank you. Also, how many sewing machines do you use?, I've noticed a few, do you use a specific model for specific makes ? From Debbie

Can anyone tell me where to buy faux leather from?
View 2 more replies | 20
Debbie replied: 26 May 19 at 19:19
I bought mine on Amazon, a google search should tell you websites that stock it, or, after writing 'faux leather' add 'near me' in your search bar, this should tell you if you have anywhere local to you that stock it.
