A friend asked me to add a zipper to this crocheted purse. Is it possible? I don't even know how to begin.

Thank you Alison. I'll try that!

Hello everyone. I want to take the plunge and do some dressmaking, and intend to buy an over locker. Can anyone advise how much bigger I need to cut pattern pieces if I am going to overlock all the edges like Debbie did for the fluted hem skirt before sewing it together? I’m confused about the overlocker cutting off the fabric as it sews. Many thanks.

Thank you, Mel! I’ve borrowed one from a friend so I’m going to have a play…

Good morning, I am laying out the fluted hem skirt pattern onto my fabric, but cannot see a way of fitting the frill on the bias. Has anyone done this yet? I am scared to cut out the back and front first! I have 2 metres of fabric. Thank you :)
Jacqui replied: 10 Feb 25 at 18:35
Thank you Dee, your skirt looks lovely. I managed to squeeze the pattern pieces on eventually turns out I had less than 2 metres. I cut two front waistbands after I realised it wouldn't work with one. I will post a pic of it when I'm done.

Hi, can anyone recommend the best type and make of wadding/fleece for a baby quilt, it will be machine stitched … just too much out there I’m not so sure? Thanks.

Hello, is there a tutorial and/or a kit for making a food mixer cover please? I am thinking of my own Kenwood K Mix , one of the smaller food mixers. I would love to make my own but just don’t have confidence to ‘have a go’ on my own. Sorry! Many thanks.

See it as no risk at all. Buy a garment or sheet from a charity shop. Or use something from the back of the wardrobe that would eventually be thrown out !. If it goes wrong you have lost nothing and gained experience!. Good luck....

I know IAM behind to a lot of you and this is an old project, Robyn . IAM making the dungarees and the back says thread elastic through and pull to 8 inches but it's already 8 inches before I've stretched the elastic ,sorry for my confusion 😉
barb replied: 8 Feb 25 at 13:58
The dungaree back consist of 4 parts, 2 top and 2 bottom which are then sewn together. Each bottom part is marked on the pattern as being 6.5 inches wide.. They are joined together so with a 1/ 4 inch seam allowance the back should be about 12.5 inches wide when complete. This is then reduced to 8 inches with the elastic On the pattern the top is marked cut 2 but the bottom is not. But you need to cut 2 of each to make the back. hope this helps

Hi everyone, I’m just wondering if anyone has ( or can explain how ) to make the Batwing dress with a v neck? I have a large bust and v neck is much more flattering. Thank you Karen
Sherry replied: 12 Feb 25 at 15:44
Me again Karen! If you search for ‘Collared Box Top with Vents’ the neckline looks to be ‘V’ neck and is easier to do. I did make this and it turned out well, and more flattering. Also the ‘Simple Box Top’ although has a round neck, I think you could make it into a V neck - just by drawing one side of a V instead of one side of a round - if that makes sense! I would try on a scrap fabric first though to get the shape exactly right for you. Hope this helps.

Hello, could somebody help me with a question about using quilters grid. Would I still use interfacing with the grid? I was thinking about making a lap quilt Thankyou Shirley
Laura replied: 5 Feb 25 at 19:25
I would still use a wadding if I was making a quilt using quilters grid interfacing. The grid is really just a tool to help with straight lines etc and is quite a thin product. Using wadding as your middle layer will provide warmth in your quilt.

I am still having trouble ordering thermal wadding, every time I go to checkout, it just goes round and round, if I try logging out and starting again it is still going round. Is there a phone number or anyone I can speak to. I cancelled my subscription by mistake, so set it up again, could this have anything to do with it?
barb replied: 5 Feb 25 at 17:50
It is not this site you are ordering from. Its debbieshoresewing which is a completely different site. Suggest you email enquiries@debbieshoresewing.com . Hope it gets resolved.

Hi all. Has anyone made the stationery case?. If so how do you do the zip. I am a visual learner and I am struggling with the instructions on how to do it. I just can't get me head round it.
Helene replied: 27 Feb 25 at 11:59
Hi Kay have you managed to work out the zipper bit?
