Thank you Barb. Have looked under blog. Can’t see the code as yet, unless Debbie mentions it in her recordin!

Sorry to be a nuisance, but I have been out of sewing for most of the year due to operations on my hands. But now can start again, and understand the code for discounts on any orders has changed. How do I find out what it is? Also I will have been a member for a year next month. Do I get a reminder to rejoin or do I have to rejoin myself when the date comes up. Thank you.

The code is under blog on this site. Memberships auto renew unless you cancel. Have a look under ‘my account’ to see the details.

For the snowman is there a special way to make the holly or just make a leaf?
Debbie replied: 11 Nov 24 at 07:53
I just cut it out freehand...

Anyone have problems with Singer HD5523 heavy duty? I have had only a fortnight and gone through 11 needles, all which have been suitable for fabric I am using. The needles either bend or just snap completely in half. I haven't used excessively I have emailed singer as its only just 4 weeks old of which only used two weeks. The self thread doesn't work now either it seems its not in line. I am suspecting the needle is not sitting in right place but wondered if it was a common problem and also what machine do you use please if you are happy with it,trying to gauge the most popular and well respected out there in the community, thank you

Can i use wool instead of string or twine on the Christmas tree quick make?
Laura replied: 9 Nov 24 at 16:25
Yes that will be fine ..they are not heavy so wool should do the job 😊

I want to make a Christmas present to someone who's disabled and has trouble moving and holding on to things. Just something that she can use and enjoy. She lives in another city so I can't do measurements and stuff. I've gifted her a cushion previously so it'll have to be something else and the simpler to make the better. Thanks xx

I made my brother a bag for his wheelchair, he always have everything he needs in there, and he loves it. But, of course, you'll need to know where to hang the bag so that it's not bothering, and the wheelchair measurements in this specific area. I also made a quilt for him, it's still on his bed, and last christmas, I made the stained glass window from the HYSC, it's in his bedroom, he was very happy to have something colourful to hang there. Of course, it's not easy to give ideas without knowing what your friend likes.

Hello Half Yarders wonder if can help. When I make a box bottom in a bag sometimes used a piece fabric that’s just folded and not cut/seamed at the bottom as in the sides but then find doesn’t quite sit together to make a neat seam. Has anyone else found this and or know a way around it apart from cutting bottom open just to sew again. Hope this makes sense to everyone 🤞

Ah thank you Laura you are a hive of info, absolute star with all the generous help you offer everyone. Makes total sense as explained. Have racked my brains as how to cut to compensate and never entered my head to work from the seam allowance. Xx

I am still having issues with the last two pieces, can anyone help, please
Susan replied: 5 Nov 24 at 15:56
Thank you for your help. The template is now correct. I see that it was the base of the lighthouse that was smaller than it should have been. Luckily only one piece to recut.

Not a question but just an observation if you are making the block of the month, if you want all your flags to face the same way, look at what you have previously done, be consistent - or not!

Great observation! I missed that but will rectify

Hi, what should I use to strengthen a soft polycotton material to make a memory teddy? Would T shirt Quilt fusible interfacing be okay?
Laura replied: 6 Nov 24 at 21:36
I would probably use an interfacing like H200 or a woven G700 interface foe this type of project. I would think the interfacing you mention would be good as it is only to stop your fabric from stretching rather than providing any firmness. Hope this helps.

Anyone else finding the HYSC site painfully slow despite trying on different devices and networks?
barb replied: 5 Nov 24 at 04:30
