Just joined this lovely club today. How do I join the sew along at 4pm today please? Thanks.
Laura replied: 27 Apr 24 at 14:07
If you log in with your password at 4pm you will see the live screen on the home page..just join as you would any live. When you put your name in to comment it is good to put your full name as if your name is picked out for a prize Debbie will know who to ask for an email with your address details. If only first names are used it can be confusing as to who actually won the prize.

Hi ladies and gentlemen, I am stuck on the latest half yard sewing project the Seminole wave. I have completed most of it but the last step, step 9, I am totally confused with it. I just don?t understand how we can get the triangles the way they they have explained it. I don?t know if someone could explain it to me properly please. It says trim our strips down to 2.3/4 deep? They won?t be very big? I have found this one quite a challenge to say the least. Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer me. Mandy.
Laura replied: 27 Apr 24 at 14:01
Yes Step 9 says ? To complete the row, with right sides together, join the two strip sets as shown to create a rick-rack effect and press. This will give you the 5? width that you need for your block x. Take your time and hand tack together first if you find that easier to match the points as per the pictures. Don?t worry if not absolutely perfect as this is a very small part of your overall quilt. People are going to love the finished product.

I?ve bought both the curved side tote and the bowling bag patterns and downloaded them. I?ve printed off the patterns but can?t find the instructions. I hope someone can help me. Thanks
Christine replied: 25 Apr 24 at 21:21
Thanks Laura, I?ve now consulted my technology expert daughter and she has shown me how to get the instructions. Apparently I was missing out a step, trying to print it first!

Hi, I'm thinking of making a denim tote bag with a Dresden plate on the front as a feature but I'm looking for some advice before taking the plunge as I've never used denim before. Should I put the H630/H640 on the outer front piece before sewing on the Dresden and do I use a denim needle for that. I'm using 8oz denim. Many thanks. Jennifer

Many thanks Debbie. That's what I'll do.

Hello, when topstitching an item with a contrasting fabric on the other side should the 2 fabrics be at the same height or should the item be pressed so that the inner fabric is lower down and hidden? Thank you as always.
Julia replied: 23 Apr 24 at 19:56
Thank you Laura . Very grateful.

barb replied: 19 Apr 24 at 13:37
There are generally no videos for block of the month. one or two have featured in the monthly ' lives' but that's not always the case.

Hi can someone help please on block 4 of the month step 2 says measure at 3? intervals, but step 3 says cut 10 x 3 1/2? strips. How can you get 3 1/2? strips from 3? markings? Am I misunderstanding something? thanks.
barb replied: 18 Apr 24 at 16:55
Step 2 does not say to measure at 3 inch intervals. It says to draw a line , horizontally, on the fabric 3 inches from the seamline. (parallel to the seamline). You may need to expand the photo on step 2 a bit but you can see the horizontal line on the white material and the grey patterned material. On step 3 you cut into strips VERTICALLY - 10 x 3 1/2 inch strips. Hope this helps.

FABRIC BOWLS: We don't have G700 here but we have the kind of interfacing that you would use in a garment collar or neck facing for a blouse . We have the soft and the medium in that. We call it Pellon. Would that work please to stabilise the bowls? Thank you for your soonest response. Blessings.
