SLING BAG: If I use a #5 zip tape at the top of the bag (the opening) where 2 zips are required, do I have to increase the width of the gusset strips and by how much?
Caro replied: 3 Mar 24 at 00:41

Hi, Can anyone remember the date when Debbie demonstrated how to sew a lined and piped cushion cover with a zipped back. I can't seem to find it on either Facebook or Youtube. I think it was around this time last year. Thanks. Jennifer

That's the one Laura! Thanks very much. Jennifer

I?m about to cut my strips for the March BoTM and it?s says cut a strip 23? long of FAB6 however it?s a fat quarter and is not 23? which ever way I measure it - should I join a two strips on the bias? My fabrics are from the actual kit.
Jillian replied: 2 Mar 24 at 18:43
I'm just about to start but will wait till next week until the experts get back to us! I'm glad I checked here once I noticed I couldn't get 23"

In the welcome to the block of the month it mentions sizes for cutting FAB 10 for blocks 3, 8 and 12.It suggests that you cut the larger background pieces from FAB 10 (sky) to ensure you have enough fabric to complete the quilt. This I have done using the measurements given, but in the instructions for block 3 it states cut one 18x4 and two 2x4 in FAB10. I m confused, please could you advise. Thank you Sue

Me too, I think it would have been helpful to have had this clarified in the instructions. I have decided to wait now each month before starting the blocks as there has been quite a few mistakes in the instructions previously.

First time trying block of the month can?t find what ww and Fab means, attempting block 1, 2023 quilt. Probably very simple but I?m a newbie ????
Laura replied: 1 Mar 24 at 11:54
They are the codes for the colours used and provided in the initial kit , if you have a read through the Introduction to the quilt here https://www.halfyardsewingclub.com/projects/welcome-to-my-block-of-the-month-quilt-2023 you will find the descriptions. If you are using your own fabrics and colours for the quilt it is worth labelling them up before you start. Hope this helps and enjoy making your quilt.

Is there anyone else who just can't wail til tomorrow for the sling bag to be posted? :-)
Laura replied: 1 Mar 24 at 13:06
It is a lovely bag and definitely on my list to make. I have just watched the video and I think it includes every bag technique that Debbie has ever shown us and the description does say challenging so not one to rush if you are beginner..I am going to take my time and treat each stage as a project so that the finished bag looks as lovely as Debbie?s .

Hi could someone tell me the difference between Decovil heavy and R form bosal. Thank you
Debbie replied: 29 Feb 24 at 08:28
Decovil heavy is quite thin and stiff, and leathery feeling, Bosal is a soft foam which I think is easier to sew with, it's about 1/4" thick. Hope that helps!

Hello there, I wonder if someone might be able to help please. I am trying to make Maddie's caddy and have downloaded the pattern and instructions and am following the you tube video. I'm a bit stuck with the small back panel that should be sewn to the two short ends of the zip panel. I realise it needs to be 4inches in height but I cannot see anywhere in the instructions as to how long it should be. Can anyone shed any light please? Many thanks. Kate

Thank you so much Laura. I feel so silly that I missed it. Kind regards Kate

Where can I find Saturdays half yard sewing along thanks
Laura replied: 26 Feb 24 at 13:14
It is on the blog page now ?Debbie does not present until about 7 min 45 seconds into the video so you might want to fast forward to that time to save waiting or thinking that the video is not working.

I cant get my photo on any ideas
barb replied: 25 Feb 24 at 20:38
What happens when you try? Are you uploading or using drag and drop? Try both methods. Good luck,
