Hi everyone, I am planning on making the fluted hem skirt. According to size chart I am a size 20 for hips (!) but a size 22 for waist. I am assuming it would best to make size 22? Your opinions please. Thank you

Under the tips and techniques section there are a number of sections on using and adjusting patterns. This ine may help https://halfyardsewingclub.com/tips/hip-adjustment

Hello. I am going to be making Paws the cat kit I got from sewingstreet.com. Should I pin and cut the pattern pieces from the right or wrong side of the Teddy fleece. Also if anyone has made any of the Chumleys did you cut the pieces individually or from folded fabric. Thanks for any help please

I have just made Edwin the Elf . I know it’s last year’s project but only got to it recently. I had difficulty with his head as it lost its shape once stuffed and the eyes and ears moved out of symmetrical position. Did anyone else encounter this problem? Should I have interfaced the flesh coloured jersey to avoid stretching?
Debbie replied: 5 Oct 25 at 09:40
I didn't interface the head so that the fabric would actually stretch, can you mould the head back into shape?

Has anyone made the batwing dress in cotton jersey and struggled with the neckline? And would anyone agree that the pattern would be best suited to perhaps viscose jersey or polyester jersey? I’m so disappointed with the result of my attempt and I did use good quality fabric.
Linda replied: 23 Oct 25 at 07:07
Thank you for your reply. I did use a cotton jersey originally…….and I think that was the problem, it was too thick! It was actually some that I bought from HYSC in the spring of this year. The dress fitted really well, I have a mannekin, make a toile and I’ve sewn for decades…….it was that pattern that fazed me. I’ve done further research on it since and sourced softy, drapier, jersey with more viscose than cotton and achieved 100% success, in fact I am getting so many orders I can’t make them fast enough. This pattern is obviously not suited to heavier cotton jerseys that are quite expensive.

Debbie replied: 27 Sep 25 at 12:51
You can certainly use the fleece! I don't think it will be too stiff...
