Can anyone help me. I'm cutting the pattern out for the slipper socks but the slipper top piece only has a small pattern not medium or large and has only the dots for the small on it? Have I miss read it or is it all the same for each size.
barb replied: 23 Dec 23 at 17:53
barb replied: 23 Dec 23 at 17:24 Keep scrolling down from the small template and you will see the medium and large top templates , They each have a template rather than it all being together

Hi, I?m wondering how many of you worry about disposing of used needles and cutting discs. I don?t have a sharps box as they themselves are difficulty to dispose of. I wrap my used needles etc in loads of paper and cardboard but worry about this in case someone picks them up and hurts themselves. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I have a tictac container for needles/pins and a mustard powder tin for rotary blades

I have a very good friend who is sadly wheelchair bound, she has Lymphodemia in both legs and feet that are huge with swelling. She happened to mention she really does miss not having slippers and hasn't had any for past 6 years...so...my question, my plea for help is, has anyone made slippers for similar foot problems and if so where do I start please? I'm a fairly newcomer to sewing but so want to try do these for her Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas to you all xx

I took a tracing of my feet at there largest and added an inch and a 1/4 all round the template. I then made this months returning project of slipper socks. Thankfully I didn't need to alter the uppers too drastically, using the largest template. I made the outers in stretch jersey and the linings in stretchy 4 way fleece to keep my feet warm. As my feet, ankles and legs swell unevenly I added a couple of rows of shirring elastic just above ankle length and at the top to stop them slipping down when the swelling retreated! Don't advice using anything stronger than shirring elastic though and maybe give her a couple of rolls of it to replace when the shirring snaps as it will with the constant increase/decrease is swelling. I hope this helps. Mine are so comfy and warm and such bliss to have my heels finally covered!

Good morning What is a twin needle use for? Can I use my zipper foot instead of a 1/4 foot for projects were seem allowance isn?t strictly required. Thank you ????
Laura replied: 15 Dec 23 at 11:13
Your needle should be set to the centre as standard when you switch it on?use stitch width 0 for sewing at the centre of your standard foot. If this doesn?t happen it might be worth checking with your machine manufacturer or have a service carried out. When I want to see the stitching position of the needle I use the transparent appliqu?/satin stitch foot if that helps.
